We get this question often: why, with all your capability and expertise, do you only perform upgrades on Land Rover Defenders? Our answer is always the same: glad you asked. What can follow are long dissertations on the beauty and design of these driving machines. In the end, we are some of the biggest Land Rover Defender fans you’ll find. We upgrade them because we love them. From Defender 90 upgrades straight through to 110s we like to tackle them all.
But passion is not the only reason that the East Coast Overhaul garage has been designed to be exclusively Defender based. There are many reasons, in fact, and once we realized how often we’d be asked this question, it compiled this list.

Our technicians and designers are truly steeped in decades of Defender work. We have technicians that apprenticed under master mechanics from across the pond, and if your goal as an organization is quality, why stray from your best asset?
- History
Few other trucks and cars on the road have quite the iconic background like the Defender. We feel we are working with museum-quality trucks, ones that rose from the ashes of World War II, carried kings and queens, and have conquered the most impassable roads. It’s hard for us to get excited about upgrading a Jeep Cherokee…
- Challenge
Perhaps this is a bit of a selfish reason in some ways, but we only upgrade Defenders because we seek the ultimate challenge in truck modification. It’s what gets us up in the morning. And Defenders, with their funky design and interesting pieces, always offer a challenge.
- Perfection
Part of our challenge is to make the perfect truck, and you can only do that with a truck capable of reaching perfection. Between innovation and perfection, the team at East Coast Overhaul pushes the envelope every time.
- Defender Rarity
Land Rover Defenders are truly rare and unique. If you’re a car aficionado, when was the last time you saw one on the road randomly? It’s not often, mainly because American-based versions are so few and far between. Defenders are like that incredible little band only you and a few others know about. We kind of like it that way.
